The Slow Detach

A poem
by Scott Wozniak
Feelings, What Feelings??
I’ve fallen
into a neutral
state of being.
It’s strange,
I once
had to consume
un-godly amounts
of cheap booze
and ingest
whatever drugs
I could get
to achieve
my desired state
of numb
in the quest
to not feel.
I don’t know
if its old age
and the keyholes
I’ve been jerked through
that brought me
to this point, or if
the drugs I used
to plug
the emotional dam
finally did their job?
Either way,
I’m afraid
I may never be moved
to tears again.
