Rue Gravier by Patrick Bahls

The sun
sank into
Rue Gravier.

A streetcar stopped
and they got off;

Mom looked at me,
a tourist
with awkward eyes.

If it wasn’t for her husband
and her child

she would smoke a joint,
its tip a hot
orange eye.
